Dr Sunil Reddy

MRCSEd MS(Orth) FRACS FAOrthA

Dr Sunil Reddy is an experienced orthopaedic surgeon and co-founder of The Joint Replacement Clinic alongside Professor Jegan Krishnan. With over 20 years of experience and fellowship training in Australia, France and Germany, he specialises in knee, hip and shoulder surgery, combining advanced surgical techniques with a personalised approach to patient care.

Dr Reddy specialises in primary and revision knee, hip and shoulder replacements, as well as arthroscopic reconstruction of the knee and shoulder. He routinely uses robotic and computer-assisted technology for knee replacement, minimally invasive approaches for hip replacement and patient-specific technology for shoulder replacement. His approach combines surgical precision with personalised treatment planning and enhanced recovery protocols to support improved patient outcomes.

Dr Reddy completed specialist fellowship training in Australia, France and Germany, gaining experience in advanced joint replacement and reconstructive surgery. He spent 13 years as a consultant orthopaedic and joint replacement surgeon at Lyell McEwin and Modbury hospitals, including serving as Director of Training. He continues to contribute to orthopaedic education through the training and mentoring of surgical fellows.

Dr Reddy is actively involved in clinical research, prosthesis design and the development of surgical techniques. He incorporates advances in robotic, computer-assisted and patient-specific technologies into his practice, alongside enhanced recovery protocols designed to improve pain management and early mobilisation. Patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) help assess recovery and treatment outcomes from the patient's perspective.

My approach starts with taking the time to ensure you understand your condition and the up-to-date options available, both surgical and non-surgical. Assessing your individual needs is key to creating a treatment plan that provides the best outcome.

Over my career I’ve seen extraordinary advances in orthopaedic surgery, the implants, the imaging, how quickly people are back on their feet. What hasn’t changed is the critical importance of providing a dedicated care team to support our patients before and after surgery
